Best Natural Bug Spray for Mosquitoes and No-See-Ums

If you fish the marsh long enough, you learn real quick that bugs can ruin a trip faster than a slow bite.

Mosquitoes are one thing. But when the no-see-ums show up, it’s a whole different level. They’ll have you swatting, itching, and ready to head back to the launch before you ever get dialed in on the fish.

Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of different bug sprays. Some worked halfway, some didn’t work at all, and a lot of them just felt like I was coating myself in chemicals.

These days, I keep it simple. I use two products that I’ve found actually work in real marsh conditions and they’re both natural.  Please note that I am not sponsored by this company.  These are products that I actually use when I am on the water.

When the No-See-Ums Get Bad

When the no-see-ums are out in full force, especially early mornings and late evenings, I use Marsh Romance spray from Hawk Soap Co. 

This is my go-to when things get miserable. It’s one of those products where you notice the difference pretty quick. Instead of constantly swatting your face and neck, you can actually focus on fishing.

For Mosquito Control

For mosquitoes, I use Skeeter Hawk spray from Hawk Soap Co..

If you fish the marsh when the wind lays down, you already know how bad mosquitoes can get. This spray has been consistent for me and it works without being greasy or overpowering. It’s just something I can rely on when I’m out there for several hours.
