The truth is that there is no perfect swimbait. Every lure manufacturer designs their products with different body shapes, tail designs, materials, scents, and actions. The good news is that many of them catch fish extremely well.
Whether you're throwing a Z-Man DieZel Minnow, a Marshline Tide Turner, or another paddle tail from your favorite manufacturer, all of them are capable of catching redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and a variety of other inshore species.

What Makes the DieZel Minnow Different?
Most soft plastic paddle tails are made from plastisol. Plastisol has been the standard for decades because it is easy to mold, accepts scent well, and has excellent swimming action. The downside? Pinfish, pufferfish, and other bait-stealing nuisances can destroy them quickly.
Z-Man took a different approach with their proprietary ElaZtech material. ElaZtech is incredibly buoyant, extremely stretchy, and remarkably durable. A single bait can often survive multiple fish when a traditional plastisol bait may already need replacing. That durability alone has made the DieZel Minnow one of my confidence baits for years.
My Preferred Setup
For years, I have paired the 4" Z-Man DieZel Minnow with a T3 Tackle King of the Bayou Jighead. I will also rig it on a Z-Man Texas Eye Jighead if I am fishing around rocks. The ElaZtech material can be a little more difficult to thread onto a jighead compared to a traditional plastisol bait — it takes a little practice. Once rigged correctly, however, it does an excellent job of keeping the bait secure. To finish the presentation, I typically add a coating of Pro-Cure Gel scent. This combination has accounted for countless redfish, speckled trout, and flounder over the years.
When I want a plastisol alternative with built-in scent, I reach for the Marshline Tide Turner Paddletail infused with Marsh Brew scent right out of the bag, no gel needed.
